How to activate Microsoft Office by phone?
After reading this quick article, you will fully understand how Microsoft's automated phone system for activation works and when we use it.
Please see below for some of the common reasons why it may fail.
•Failed to connect to the Microsoft servers to validate your PC.
•You have already activated this online (did earlier)
•Your IP address or account has activated too many licenses.
Usually, when it comes to any MS Office product, you have two options for activation:
- Over the internet(online activation)
- By phone
Most of the time, online activation keys are more expensive, which is why some experienced users prefer to purchase a key that is cheaper but requires activation by phone.
But, do not be scared, the activation by phone is not rocket science and takes only a couple of minutes.
In this case, we are going to use Microsoft Office 2019/2021 as an example, but the method is working for the old versions of Office as well.
In case an activation error appears as in the screenshot below, you would need to activate the software application by phone. The activation itself is carried out using a mobile phone, calling a toll-free number, you will need to type numbers on the keyboard of your phone.
1. We remind you that to activate Office 2021 Pro Plus by phone – you would need to have the original Office application installed, you can download it via a direct link from Microsoft.
For the older versions(2016,2019), you can download the Office by entering your Office product key here: https://setup.office.com/
Also, in order to activate the application, you must first enter the product license key in it. If you do not have an office product license key, you can purchase genuine one here.
Click Next to continue.
You will see the telephone activation section.
First, select your country, this will enable Microsoft to generate a phone number to call.
Please dial the phone number to match your country.
Please check below how to activate your Office via telephone exactly:
1. Begin by calling the given number.
2. Now press option 1 to consent to call recording.
3. Enter the auto-generated security number if asked on the telephone keypad.
4. Now press option 3, do NOT press option 2, this will fail activation.
5. Now press option 1.
6. Microsoft will now ask for your Installation ID, type it into your telephone keypad carefully.
7. You will now be asked how many uses, press 0. (The reason we choose 0 as you have not activated this on any PC yet)
8. The automated system will now verify your Installation ID and generate a Confirmation ID
9. Type the Confirmation ID into your PC carefully and press next.
10. Your activation is successful and fully installed on your PC now press option 2 on your telephone keypad to complete the activation.
